A Copy of My Mind

Sari who works in a beauty salon finds solace in pirated dvd she buys each day. But whenever she finds poorly translated subtitles, it upsets her. One day, she decides to complain to the seller who then introduces her to Alek, who make subtitles for dvd piracy ring in Jakarta. They immediately fall in love with each other and create a world of their own, separated from the noisy city at the time of a very turbulent presidential campaign. One day, Sari is asked by her boss to go to prison to give a facial treatment to an inmate, a wellconnected lady who is doing time for a graft case. When she arrives at the prison, she doesn't discover a dirty prison cell, but a well-maintained room equipped with air conditioner, home theater, and a dvd collection. Sari sees a dvd that interests her and steals it, without knowing that it actually contains a recording of many other deals involving the wellconnected ladies and some closest aides of one of the presidential candidates. When Sari and Alek finds out about it, it's too late. And in a country where corrupt government officials and lawmakers always prevail, people like Sari and Alek only have little to none hope to survive. (Venice International Film Festival)
