The Morning Show explores the cutthroat world of morning news and the lives of the people who help America wake up in the morning. Told through the lens of two complicated women working to navigate the minefield of high-octane jobs while facing crises in both their personal and professional lives, The Morning Show is an unapologetically candid drama that looks at the power dynamics between women and men, and women and women, in the workplace. English The pilot is rather off-putting; it´s kind of like Sorkin in the way “they walk around the office and talk like machine guns". The characters represent opinions rather living people, everything is centered around #MeToo in the cheapest possible way, and the stylization of the dark side of morning shows full of American smiles over puppies is not sophisticated at all. But the pilot made a great contribution to the series, as this flagship of Apple TV will soon produce “Sunset Boulevard meets Damages", where #MeToo is viewed from many different perspectives and the characters come to life. First of all, however, it begins to work as an intriguing drama, which is driven by the characters and their actions, not by declamations. On top of this, there is the appealing background of TV news, where the dynamics of nice smiles for morning America are replaced by backstabbing as soon as the cameras are turned off, which is well executed. It´s beautiful, cold and pragmatic puppetry built up through suppressed emotions. It is a pity that, in addition to the poor opening, the introductory season also has a badly done conclusion. In the last two episodes, everything moves towards one thing, but after backing away from this idea, we surprisingly see a completely different and much worse “last-minute" solution. Anyway, it is excellent as a whole. This is how Newsroom might have turned out if it hadn't fallen apart in Sorkin´s hands in the final season due to its idealism and romantic escapades. And if Sorkin were more like Beau Willimon. | S1: 4/5 | ()
