English Astro Kid captivates at first sight, especially with its visuals and creative imagination regarding the planet and its creatures. In addition to the various (and often very humorous) creatures and the beautiful natural landscapes, I liked that pixel animation was incorporated into some of the scenes and credits - so a plus point for inventiveness. Story-wise, it isn't a very sophisticated film that brings something new to the genre, rather it is a compilation of other, previous stories, which is not to say that it is a rip-off. In addition to survival, there's a storyline about family and the importance of friendships that can form anywhere, anytime, and between anyone. Even though the film doesn't exactly offer a large number of funny scenes, which is what you'd expect within the genre, you can still learn some lessons, albeit generic, and enjoy the solid animation.
