English One of those “golden” movies from the 1970s normalisation era. Mach’s weak attempt at a Vorlíček-like comedy is clueless in all respects, with even the mandatory social satire in the form of a greedy butcher. Poor Pepa Kemr, what he got himself into. ()

English A very unsuccessful attempt at a satirical comedy with a fairytale motif, which failed due to a terrible screenplay. It can only boast an interesting cast. The direction is poor and the humor is scarce. Overall impression - 20%. That movie is the silliest of them all. Even the basic element - the owner of the magical genie - doesn't come up with any other use for its abilities than transforming uncomfortable people into monkeys... ()

English Monkey's Playtime is similar to other normalization emblems of the time. The only thing of any (at least historical) value is Miloslav Šimek in the small role of a teacher. ()

English I don’t understand the low rating. It's bollocks, but throwing it in the garbage together with gems like Troška’s Kamenák seems quite unfair, if only because of Josef Kemr, who played the role of the genie to perfection. ()
