The series, riding the wave of Besson's film, managed to surprise. Brutal Nikita starring Peta Wilson was a continuation of all those great action series that weren't afraid to feature attractive women as their main characters. Sometimes it was necessary to delve into science fiction or fantasy, sometimes ordinary action was enough. After 2000, Alias and Witchblade continued in a similar style.
