Plots(1)

Three stories ('The Garden of Eden', 'The Open Country of a Lonely Man', and 'Riedgost') by a new generation of Czech filmmakers who combine personal friendship with a common approach to work. They reveal a raw, non-cliplike poetic combining actors and nonactors and an interest in finding value in places normally thought of as 'armpits of the world.' In such out-of-the-way locations they discover much of fundamental worth: a love story at a small 'Sudeten' train station, the magic of slivovice plum brandy in the Wallachian hills, the power of ancient myths, and the realization that we are mainly looking for things which are right under our noses.
