Despite her outward prettiness, on the inside, medical student Dana is a spinsterish wallflower with serious issues. When the object of her affections, an economics student, rejects her, she decides to show him that someone cares about her – she asks her classmate to marry her, and ends up stealing her best friend’s husband. With time, Dana acquires a taste for intrigue, bad-mouthing and manipulating people, managing to exploit their every ounce of weakness, cowardice, and even ordinary human decency. (Art Film Fest)

English Today, after a really long time, I dusted off Time of the Servants and decided to keep my original rating. Although the film wasn’t perfect and a maximum of three stars would be an appropriate rating, I had to add a fourth one for the acting performances of Karel Roden and especially Ivana Chýlková. The way she portrayed the transformation from a mousy wallflower into an unscrupulous bitch was quite an experience. ()
