In 2013, family doctor Nico Tromp deviates from the directives and provides palliative care for a dying cancer patient. When his intern reports it to the Health Care Inspectorate, the Public Prosecutor charges him with murder without a fair hearing. Shortly thereafter, he puts an end to his life. Director Sarah Vos followed his widow Anneke Tromp for three years during her battle against the Dutch State. A tragic story unfolds that calls for a renewed ethical, social and political debate about the vulnerable position of general practitioners operating in the grey area of acute palliative care for the dying.
