A detective story that relies on a B-movie plot and beautifully emphasizes it. And yet it's not at all B-movie-like, but excellently thought out, showing how great the author was, and how she - just like her film successors - knew how to play with the genre. I also immensely enjoyed this part and its tangled plot disarmed me.
