A Berlin apartment in the fall of 1945 in the immediate aftermath of World War II. A young German woman named Christina (Nicki Aycox), plans to leave the war-ravaged city to begin a new life in America with her GI fiancé, Billy (Jordan Belfi). When Billy, a wartime reporter with Stars and Stripes returns from a short trip, Christina is excited but nervous to tell him some important news: after many months of wartime separation, she has finally been united with her young daughter – a child she has kept secret from Billy. But before she can tell Billy, Police Inspector Edgar Reinhardt (Stephen Lang) appears at their door – telling a very different version of the events surrounding the girl's disappearance. We soon learn that none of the characters are exactly what they appear to be. Each harbors a secret. Against a backdrop of death and destruction on a monumental scale, the unrelenting Inspector is determined to find the truth behind one small crime that might have otherwise gone unnoticed.
