Plots(1)

Cole Trickle (Tom Cruise) certainly appears to have all the right moves both on and off the stock car racing track. His natural talent catches the attention of Tim Dolan (Randy Quaid) who offers him a sponsorship. Grizzled NASCAR veteran Harry Hogge (Robert Duvall) comes on board to smooth out Cole's rough edges and Dr. Claire Lewicki (Nicole Kidman) provides the romance. All Cole needs to do is to discover a little humility. That happens after a track accident makes him rethink his place in the world. Back on the track, Cole brings home the trophy. Plenty of fast-paced race car action in this Tony Scott directed flick. (official distributor synopsis)

English This movie reminded me of Top Gun a lot, with fighters replaced by NASCAR cars. Otherwise, it was exactly in the same spirit. Eighties music, a young cool guy Tom Cruise, an old guy who helps him to be the best, and a love story without which it would not have been possible at that time. Overall, a nice action flick by Tony Scott. But if I could, I would give a pass to the romantic storyline that irritated me as much as in Top Gun. ()

English It’s not bad, it’s just terribly predictable. The good old style of action wizard Tony Scott (God rest his soul), great racing scenes, the 80's turning into the 90's and Hans. Those were the days! ()

English An indigestible ode to Tom Cruise's ego directed by his Top Gun director, who was so fond of putting him in the same role over and over again that exactly resembled the previous one. The protagonist is a rebellious thug who is lucky and, thanks to his relationship with the sexy doctor Nicole Kidman (who doesn't appear for the first time until the 40th minute (!)), he comes to understand himself and discovers the true value of friendship. I can't believe that Cruise and Kidman's next two films together are that much better when their pairing builds on zero foundation. Days of Thunder features endless shots of racing and repetitive kitsch with redheads. ()

English Nothing but weak average, with a few impressive shots of racing cars and that's it. Tony Scott struggles with the romance. In its time, it was a high-caliber action popcorn movie, but it quickly ran out of steam. ()
