A documentary film about a remarkable figure of Slovak culture, reflecting on his creative work and life full of surprises. In the early 1960s, Milan Sládek contributed to the rise of modern Slovak mime. Inspired by famous French mime artists, he created his own performative language. His shows presented a completely new theatrical form to Slovak audiences and influenced many local and European theatre artists. After the Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia in August 1968, he emigrated to Germany where he founded the Kefka mime theatre and the Kaukliar international theatre festival. He lives in Cologne and continues to be professionally-active even at 82 years old. The film is a testimony of Milan Sládek’s individual work and the story of a generation of Slovak theatre professionals. (MFFK Febiofest)
