50 States of Fright

This is definitely worth a look. The only downside for me is that the stories are five to ten minutes long and it was annoying to download subtitles fourteen times and turn the player back on fourteen times, but the new streaming service Quibi is specialised on this kind of stuff. The whole series is something like 95 minutes long in total and focuses on urban legends from various American states, and Sam Raimi is involved, too. The plus side is that none of the stories are below average, all of them balance between better than average to above average. Technically they're decent, and are gory rather than scary and, most importantly, they usually lean on interesting themes as well. I liked the episode about Oregon with the taxidermy with a Sasquatch, but the biggest highlight is the one about Minnesota, where a fraternity is subjected to a ritual, it was one of the most brutal stories. The episode about Michigan and the golden hand was also fine. The average is Kansas episode, about a strange string ring that sucks in the populace, and also Florida, where it was all about Satanism. All in all fine stuff, but I'd rather take it in its entirety than fourteen times.
