This dramatised documentary tells the story of the Hungarian Laslo Kovacs. His arrival in Hollywood makes an overwhelming impression on him. Fuddled by a combination of alcohol, films and romance he lands in a world of ghosts. It is here that he has a miraculous encounter with 'the big O', or Orson Welles, who even as a corpse takes in a lot of space. If he wants to survive as a filmmaker, Kovacs has to make sure that Welles is really dead. He does so in a way that does justice to the vampire stories he has brought along from his native country, that is by piercing 'the big O''s heart. The big O is the bizarre story of the nightmare of the filmmaker who has to commit 'patricide'. When Kovacs wakes up he finds himself in the editing room, working on the last sequences of his film.
