In a Slovenian refugee camp in Ljubljana a group of Bosnian refugees presents a newscast every night. They obviously do not have the possibility to really broadcast it, but they show it on video to the people in the camp. Despite the technical limitations they try to put together as realistic as possible a newscast, complete with leaders, a signature tune, regular presenters, a selection from the international news and their own reports from the camp. Chris Marker followed the animated crew on 13 July 1993 from early morning till late at night, while they were preparing their programme, recording, editing and presenting it. In addition, he interviewed other refugees in the camp and asked them what it meant to them to have their own newscast. From this angle, Marker draws a personal picture of a refugee camp in former Yugoslavia and at the same time criticises the international TV-coverage in this war-torn country.
