Dick Tracy (Morgan Conway) is on another daring case - this time he's on the hunt for a notorious criminal known as Splitface (Mike Mazurki). Escaped from the clink, Splitface is attempting to make good on his vow to bump off the jurors responsible for his prison stint. After several jurors are slashed to death, Tracy must figure out what common denominator links the murders. Once he discovers that, he can deduce who the killer is and put a stop to him. Following the clues, the poker-faced detective and his partner Pat Patton (Lyle Latell) pinpoint Splitface as the culprit and trace him to a boat where he's holed up with hostages Tess Truehart (Anne Jeffreys), Tracy's girlfriend, and her adopted son Junior (Mickey Kuhn). Dick Tracy is an interesting character, and I was curious to see how he would appear in a movie that probably wouldn't dare to be too gritty. But the movie Dick Tracy pleasantly surprised me because there are scenes where the atmosphere is almost horror-like. It's essentially like a TV series episode, but thanks to the atmosphere, it's quite enjoyable.
