English "Don't get upset, noble psychic, I didn't mean to offend your ball." The beginning of the film was awkward to say the least, but sometime after an extremely drawn out visit to a cabaret it started to be good fun after all. Most of all, I liked the acting of Oldřich Nový, whose main character acted like some combination of Čeněk Šlégl and Miloš Kopecký. And his charmingly stealthy movements while watching his wife! "I bought a gun. Loaded." "For what?" "For real." ()

English The Antlers has the subtitle "A Capricious Frolic," which aptly captures the essence of this comedy. There are some really funny moments and dialogue, but despite the shorter runtime, I was a bit bored. It's probably because the plot itself is pretty predictable. However, Oldřich Nový in the role of the jealous Viktorin maintains his traditionally high standard, and his counterpart Sylva Langová also pleases the viewer's eye and certainly captivates with her expressive facial expressions. Also worth mentioning is the musical component of this post-war film, which nicely complements the period atmosphere. (70%) ()

English It’s a clueless starting point, and wrapping this drivel in Art Nouveau Prague didn't help, but it didn't hurt either. I would like to see Sylva Langová naked, but I prefer if Olga Augustová was 12 years younger, and I can't stand Nelly Gaierová. And Oldřich? Who cares if he didn't reach the top until he was old? Are we going to fake that we are in our teenage years till we die? Unfortunately, yes. ()
