English A mediocre affair. I could excuse its weak aesthetic side due to the year it was made, but the leaky and unimaginative plot affected my "experience" a lot. Rosenthal's music does add a little more juice to the action scenes, but it's brought down a lot by the unlikeable Michael York and at the times plodding direction. At least the second half was much more intense and there was almost always something going on. Even so, the only thing that remains in my memory is Pavel Soukup's czech dubbing. 60% ()

English The American film The Island of Dr. Moreau starring Burt Lancaster is brought down by the fact that Michael York doesn't play the character of Andrew Braddock very well, because he's simply an adventurer who is supposed to accidentally discover the island's dark secret. He eventually does discover it, then he fights and... You'll see for yourself. However, it's a shame that the interaction between humans and genetically engineered creatures wasn’t developed more. English I never really understood the 70s fetish for animal costumes and human monkeys. This is a loud and dodgy film with a sort of vague moral message and a somewhat ridiculous naive Michael York. It’s nothing worth remembering. ()
