The Promise of Love

The Promise of Love is a dramatic commentary on the tragic effects of the Vietnam War. Valerie Bertinelli stars as Kathy Wakeman, a young woman who forsakes her dreams of college for the love of a man. But soon after the pair marries, Kathy's marine husband is dispatched to fight in Vietnam and is tragically killed. Suddenly alone and still living on the military base, Kathy struggles to deal with her husband's death. Further complicating matters is the well-meaning military who wants to send Kathy packing - but she refuses to give up her home. Soon Kathy realizes that she must move beyond the tragedy and make steps to provide for herself.
