Sebők Zoltán, the brain surgeon, performed a secret abortion on his lover and the woman died. The man waiting for the autopsy (and his arrest) escapes to his father's villa at Lake Balaton. It is the evening of Sebők Imre's 75th birthday which he celebrates in the company of Mira, their relative from Kolozsvár. The father tries to keep the spirit in his exhausted son in vain. The lovely, talkative Mira knows nothing, trying to get Zoltán infatuated with her admiringly. The aggrieved father dies of a heart-attack. Zoltán is stiff and desperate, yet is more and more attracted to the girl's purity. He tells her everything, and love conquers astonishment in Mira. Zoltán finds inner peace. He does not want her to sacrifice herself for his sake. Mira goes away, but promises to wait for him. (official distributor synopsis)
