English Dashing in December could give itself a high five with The Christmas Setup, as both of these Christmas queer films are similar in many ways. Whether it's the two seemingly disparate guys who are slowly starting to spark things off between them, or the excited mother (here Andie MacDowell takes the baton from Fran Drescher), or the overall omnipresent Christmassy and at times solidly candy-colored atmosphere. Although it is essentially a formulaic and predictable film with lots of clichéd moments, it was fun to watch and at times I even found myself smiling with pleasure. Cute, sweet and Christmassy! PS: "I don't think we ever get over the loss of someone we loved. I just think we have to learn to lean a little harder on the ones that are still here." ()
