Sung Tse Ho and his brother Tse Kit are undercover police agents collecting evidence of the counterfeit activities of Lung's ship building company. Actually, Lung's assistant, Ko Ying Pui, is the one running the counterfeit operation and he wants to kill Lung to take over the company. The two brothers save Lung and escort him to New York to be taken care of by Ken, an ex-killer living a quiet life in America. Later, Ken decides to help Lung return to Hong Kong. Moreover, Ken, Ho and Kit are determined to catch Ko even at the price of losing their lives. (official distributor synopsis)

With the increase in the number of bullets fired, the runtime also increased slightly - but not more relationship drama, and instead to what Woo is adored by half the planet for. Unlike the first film, the bloody ballet, spiced up with heroic gestures, formally framed by spectacular slow-motion and fountains of blood, feels like a merciless firing from the position of "Dual-Beretta," defining the shooting idol of Yun-fat Chow for generations to come and finally ending the director's "stylistic warm-up" for future opuses. 4 ½.

When you look at the scene from the restaurant with rice, you realize that this is really what you want. Rough, great fun where Chow Yun Fat absolutely rules, heroic characters and their shootouts. And it's also funny in some places. The conclusion is absolutely great action ride, where everything is shot at, and it looks absolutely amazing. Blood splatters, grenades explode, people die, and it's really great fun.

The feeble story is made up for by a marvelous portion of action in John Woo on-form style. Particularly the finale is breathtaking. Fat is back and, even though Kenny lacks the layers of mystery that Mark has, he is at least equally cool. The dramaturgy limps rather, but it’ll bring a smile on the face of fans of the genre.

Awful overacting, a messy plot and a lot of chatter. The action is only in the last ten minutes, and here and there during the film, and it’s far from entertaining. Considering that it’s almost an identical copy of the first one, it doesn’t offer anything new or groundbreaking. A bit weaker than the first one, which had similar flaws, but at least it was original.
