English I would venture to say that William Brent Bell is not a good director. He's done quite a bit, and with one mildly bright exception (The Boy), it's been all very poor. Actually, I don't really understand who keeps giving him money to make movies that, at the very least, show that they weren't exactly the cheapest (within the genre). Separation is another addition to the branching family of genre films with a kid, a house, and a supernatural entity, and it doesn't bring anything new or interesting; it's so dull and unimpressive that you can't even enjoy the clichés. In the end, Bell clearly ran out of money, so the film suddenly looks almost like an old video game. Avoid it. ()
