Kundo: Age of the Rampant (2014)

English A stylish, entertaining and excellent blockbuster, exactly as I expected. A likeable cast (especially the gang of bandits is excellent) and on the other hand a charismatic villain who knows martial arts at the highest level, even though he only uses a katana. The story is interesting and engaging. The action is beautiful, clean and artistic, and of course there is no lack of blood, which is a big plus, so for me it is excellent entertainment accompanied by a nice soundtrack. 80%

The Rebel (2006)

English An absolute martial arts hell with a decent romantic story, which moved and cut me all the time. There's plenty of action and it's one of the best in the genre. Very impressive and gritty choreography using multiple martial arts at once, in everything from capoeira to muay thai and kung fu. The main villain is charismatic, has bones of iron perhaps, and the likeable protagonists are impossible not to root for. Suspenseful, fast-paced, brilliantly shot. It's great on a silver platter. 90%

For the Emperor (2014)

English Quite disappointing. There's no shortage of action, but it didn't impress me much, not only is the editing bad, but the choreography is also lacking, which pretty much relegates this film to the level of classic American action B-movies. It's not the classic Korea with breathtaking visuals and excellent action scenes. But I found some good things here as well. The brutality is certainly enjoyable and the one good scene where a gang of guys break into a house and start cutting, slashing, stabbing with knives and blood splashes slowly on the screen with flashing lights, I liked this one but considering how long I waited for the film it deserves more of a scolding. A standard average, but perhaps worth a watch. 60%

Lucy (2014)

English Lucy is the guilty pleasure of the year. Luc Besson once again confirms his directorial and screenwriting qualities. This time he comes up with probably the most ambitious action film he's ever made. It's properly brisk, suspenseful, gritty, unapologetic, visually breathtaking and quite intelligent for an action film, I found all the theories very interesting, Scarlett Johansson and Morgan Freeman are top notch, so thumbs up for me. Here at last I can utter my little used though very favourite phrase, it's fucking ride! Watching it also made me reminisce about my favourite action flick Kiss of the Dragon. 90%

Horns (2013)

English Very decent. Daniel Radcliffe's career is assured, here he only confirms his acting qualities. It's funny, entertaining, original and very clever. The ending is very spectacular, a perfect shot of a stick and a breathtaking scene with snakes, which is already a cult classic for me. It could have been shorter, but I still had a decent time. 75%

Asmodexia (2014)

English Very disappointing. I was very much looking forward to Asmodexia. It was a tempting destination, exorcism is my thing and the trailer was a reliable lure, but it all looked so bland, cheap and uninteresting to me. There were no scares, only a couple of impressive atmospheric scenes that could fit into ten minutes, the story seemed incoherent and uninterestingly told that I even got lost in places. All this underlined by a slower pace. I don't know if I didn't have the right attitude and too high expectations, but it missed me. 5/10

Open Windows (2014)

English An interesting premise for the cyber internet, but very unrealistically rendered, but it can be tolerated. Elijah Wood is passable, Sasha Grey is seductive, the pacing is pretty decent, the film is suspenseful and entertaining at the same time, so 3 stars must absolutely do it justice.

The ABCs of Death 2 (2014)

English First, we'll list the best ones, and this time there really were not a few. The clear winner is Z: Zygote: absolute peak and orgasm! Superb gore, perfect idea, disgusting, extreme and insane and for me a big thumbs up for a totally unknown director. Second place probably V: Vacancy: perfectly bloody, depressing and violent found footage, strangely well shot. Third place S: Split: an unnerving home invasion, brilliantly shot, wonderfully paced, solid music and decent gore! Next up C: Capital Punishment: perfect idea, uncomfortable calm before the storm, very well done execution and breathtaking atmosphere. Q: Questionnaire: incredibly clever and gripping dialogue and superbly filmed operation (yummy brain removal) X: Xylophone: I expected more from Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury, but they showed their perversion and gore here too. K: Knell: weird but visually interesting, atmospherically strong, it suited me. J: Jesus: great gore, decent look. R: Roullete: great atmosphere, decently filmed, heart pounding. N: Nexus: decent make-up effects, suspenseful, atmospheric and tragic. E: Equilibirum: incredibly funny and entertaining short story, I liked it. T: Torture porn: sleazy and perverted towards the end but unfortunately amateurish and low quality gore, but it had something going for it. U: Utopia interesting premise. A: Amateur: quite funny, decently gory and nicely shot. Unwatchable short stories: The winner is Y: Youth: typical Asian weirdness, stupid, badly made with crazy ideas, horrible. Next D: Deloused: almost unwatchable, characters made of plasticine or what the fuck, horrible. L: Legacy: promising cannibals but terrible digital execution. W: Wish: a naive, amateurish and uninteresting story, I shook my head. H: Head Games: bad joke, rubbish. P: is for P-P-P-P Scary! I didn't get it. A little disappointing after the second screening, there are fewer downright bad ones, but I found four of them less than I used to, too. Today I liked Deloused and Wish already. The highlight are still Zygote, Toilet! and Xylophone. 60%.

Clownhouse (1989)

English A very average nowadays uninteresting B-movie from the 80s. Only the atmosphere and the clowns, which like Johnny Depp I have a phobia of, pull it up, but otherwise there was nothing exceptional. No gore, no scares and a dozen logical errors. 50%

The Maze Runner (2014)

English It was very difficult to trust a potential future blockbuster that which was charged to a brand new and inexperienced director, but surprisingly he did it with style and ease. The young actors are charismatic, we have future promising actors some of whom may have decent careers ahead of them. The pacing is very decent with no dead spots, the story is also very good for the genre and features many a cool twist, the action is clear and spectacular, some scenes are so well paced that they are almost palpable with suspense, and of course the unpredictability is the main draw of the film, it leaves you in anticipation until the last minute. If you liked Lost, this works on a similar principle. 80%
