Biography
Ira Sachs (born 1965) directed his first feature films The Delta (1996) and Forty Shades of Blue (2005) in Memphis, Tennessee, the city of his birth, but before long moved to New York where he has gradually joined the ranks of the most significant describers of the city alongside Scorsese, Lee, Allen & co. Besides in his first feature film, Sachs has treated the subject of the pain of love in the modern society especially in gay relationships e.g. in Keep The Lights On (2012). Increasingly more he has given the great Japanese Yasujirō Ozu as his influence – for instance, the source of inspiration for the script of Little Men can be traced to a couple of Ozu's family stories.
