Biography

He was born in Italy and lives and works in that country and in the United States. As well as a filmmaker, he is a writer and a university professor. He has studied at the New School University in New York and at Madrid’s Autonomous University. After directing several short films, Minervini began his Texas trilogy, composed of The Passage (2011), Low Tide (2012, an award winner at Venice) and Stop the Pounding Heart (2013), which premiered at the Cannes Festival and won an award at the CPH:DOX. Both that film and The Other Side (premiered at Cannes) were present in Seville. What You Gonna Do When the World’s on Fire? premiered in Venice, winning five awards: Best Actress for Judy Hill, a mention for the sound track and the UNICEF, Vivere da Sportivi and Fair Play Cinema Awards.
