In Kyushu, Tora-san meets a runaway girl (Kayoko Kishimoto) who wants to become a partner in Tora-san's peddling business. Later, one of his colleagues, a terminally ill vendor selling fried octopus, asks Tora-san to marry his wife once he dies. Meanwhile, in Tokyo, the runaway goes to work at the family candy shop until her brother (Takeo Chii) shows up to claim her in this, the 28th "Tora-san." (Shochiku)
