English The higher budget paradoxically did the sequel harm, because the better quality of the technical aspect makes Eli Roth’s lack of skills as both screenwriter and director all the more glaring. His attempts at psychologizing on the subject of crime and guilt do not deserve any comment. It makes one recall the first instalment with nostalgia – horrible it might be, but it is also entertainingly cheap and silly. ()

English A bit worse than the first Hostel, but with some very good scenes. Overall, it’s a slightly above-par film that shouldn’t disappoint fans of the exploitation subgenre. The ending is quite impressive. ()

English Again, absolutely idiotic, but still better than the first part. During the scene of the dramatic march towards the beginning of the torture in the background with Slovak folk music, I had an uncontrollable fit of laughter, just like when I realized that I knew both important torturers from Desperate Housewives and seeing them in such a subordinate role, which they both almost perversely enjoyed, was an experience. However, I can't go higher than the unserious one-star rating. The whole concept of Slovakia and the extremely stupidly pointed story is disgraceful. ()
