English I'm writing my review after having seen only one season. Not even the ending, as widely open as Mrs. Merkel's arms to welcome refugees, could make me keep watching the adventures of the Robinson family. In order to become a colonist sent to Alfa Centauri, you obviously had to meet many demanding criteria, but logical thinking was just not one of them. The writing didn't really bother with logic or the laws of physics, among other things. Although it is a family series, it shouldn’t underestimate its audience (including the younger ones) so much. Not even Toby Stephens, who was the reason I started watching Lost in Space in the first place, managed to save the overall impression. ()

English [Season 1] A family adventure intended for the less conflicted and mild-mannered. It doesn't impress or offend, however for an entire central family brimming with excessive intellect, which they often sell decently, this trait is a bit lacking throughout the series, because then the kids wouldn't quite get it. The story is based on the classic tropes of how a family that doesn't quite work for various reasons starts to work again as time goes on by clearing its conscience of previous misdeeds, and where everything that can go wrong does so in a continually annoying and predictable way. The antagonist is a great representative of her field, as her sole purpose is to catalyze these mishaps for weirdly illogical reasons, and at the very least I would have expected that with their scientific intelligence the main characters would have seen through her in the same episode she appeared on set. The bright spot for me was the two parents: Toby Stephens and Molly Parker are great and unbearably likable. The gimmick is decent, and it's fun to watch, but it feels a little sterile here and there. Definitely good entertainment for the maybe +-10-13 year olds, borderline boring for me. ()

English Serious family adventure sci-fi series. I would like to point out words “family" and “serious". And then, somewhere in the background, it is also a narrative sci-fi. And this is basically the same thing that Shyamalan wanted to achieve in After Earth. Just done more or less correctly. Simply put, the family is nice, the children are not unbearable (although they are too smart), frequent actions and the struggle for survival are presented correctly and dramatically, visuals are amazing, great soundtrack that rumbles like the latest blockbuster, emotionally it's not cold (even at the cost of being to emotional occasional) and so the only one significant complaint is that the pace of most episodes is strange because it ranges between far too frantic and far too slow. Nothing in between. What is not helping either is the strange discrepancy, where on the one hand it pays tribute to the original naive cult series and the movie wants to be a ride for children. It has slightly crazy characters and humor, but on the other hand it is being too serious, packed with marriage problems, constant struggle for a bare life, dealing with personal demons, styling à la Interstellar, etc. Children would shake their head about how seriously the movie takes itself and about problems of adulthood. However, the grown-ups would shake their heads in the same way as it seems incomplete. Generally speaking, it would be much better it the movie had a clear vision what it wants to be. Does it want to be a serious survival sci fi movie for a more mature audience or just a funny adventure ride as from the modern Doctor Who for all those who still have soul of a child? | S1: 3/5 | ()
