English RuPaul is undoubtedly a big name in the drag queen scene, and since I only knew him from The Graham Norton's Show and Instagram, I took a few hours to explore the world of Ruby Red and her friends. The show should be approached as a drag performance, with an appreciation for a certain affected (but purposeful!) colourfulness. The first episode was more of a warm-up, and it wasn't until the third that little AJ didn't get on my nerves. Of all the episodes, the seventh (I really liked Latrice Royale) and sixth (Grease always delights) were the ones that appealed to me the most. I was also happy to see for the first time in a while the once fearless treasure hunter Tia Carrere as the diabolical Lady Danger. Along with the relationship road movie line, I was intrigued by the theme of loneliness that ran through the series like a red (or was it rainbow?) thread. AJ and the Queen, however, is primarily based on RuPaul and his Ruby Red – he was really unrecognizable as a drag queen and provided more than one memorable scene. Despite the somewhat rushed ending, I liked the series as a whole, it entertained, thrilled and moved me! ()

English A pleasant relaxing series that draw the viewer in. There are significant holes and illogical twists in the script, but since everyone takes this series with a grain of salt, it's bearable. Great music by Mamma Ru herself and the acting by the drag queens wasn't bad, although they all act like that in real life. Anyway, I have to admit that this series is iconic and I look forward to the next seasons. ()
